What is Microsoft Thinking?!!!

Why would a company produce a new operating system that is substandard and definitely about 20 steps down from the quality of their current existing os? And at the same time announce that the old operating system that actually works will no longer be available at retail outlets?

Vista has enough glitches that I’m surprised that microsoft released it. For example, did you know that there are some programs that it won’t run? Including Adobe Photoshop CS2? (I just discovered that Photoshop will work on Vista- providing you have at least 2 gig ram) And I-Tunes! There are beginning to be some patches available but any operating system, especially a major one, shouldn’t need major patches. It should be versatile enough to run most programs.

Vista also does not support some older printers and, according to an article in PC Magazine, does not even plan on making drivers for older printers available. What a pain! Imagine bringing home a brand new computer only to find that there is no way to hook it up to your $2000 laser printer. Sure the printer is a little outdated but it still works and you shouldn’t be forced to upgrade your printer just because you got a new computer. No wonder new sales of computers to business’ has fallen precipitously- one retailer used to sell new computers to business’s at an average of 150 per week. That rate has dropped to only 4 or 5 per week. No one wants to incorporate the new operating system into their business.

Vista’s speed of operation is soo slow its almost laughable. I recently downloaded a zip file of 500 articles and proceeded to upzip it on a computer using Vista operating system. I was shocked to see that its estimated time of completion was 32 minutes. I then went to my trusty desktop with XP, downloaded the zip file, unzipped it and was looking at my articles- all within 3 minutes. What a difference!!

Yes, Vista has its problems. It’s Microsoft’s choice to release it but if they care anything about their customers, they would provide an option. There is no reason to deny us of our trusted XP operating system. And I hope that through this site, we can gather enough support to enable XP operating system to remain on the market. Microsoft- LET THE CUSTOMER DECIDE!!
